Stuart,
the town of Sewall's Point, the even smaller private community
of Sailfish Point, and the southern part of Hutchinson Island
are located in Martin County on Florida's East Coast, approximately
45 minutes north of Palm Beach.
While
most of the population of Stuart lives on the mainland,
many of the luxury estates featured in this guide are located
on Sewall's Point (in green)
or in Salifish Point (in pink) -- the southernmost tip of
Hutchinson Island, one of three barrier islands that run
along Florida's so-called Treasure Coast.
The
central and southern parts of Hutchinson Island also are
home to a number of luxury condos, and are connected to
the mainland by two bridges that span the Intercoastal Waterway.
Residents
and visitors arriving in the Stuart area by private jet
land at Witham Field Airport, about a mile southeast of
Stuart.
The
closest airport for scheduled commercial flights is the
Palm Beach International Airport -- a 45-minute drive to
the south.
Stuart
The
city of Stuart, which bills itself as the "Sailfish
Capital of the World," attracts numerous sports fishermen
in search of the sport fish living in local waters. With
small-town charm, miles of wide waterways and uncrowded
beaches, and a vibrant arts community, Stuart is emerging
as one of the hottest real estate markets in Florida.
Sewall's
Point
The
town of Sewall's Point, located on a three-and-one-half
mile long peninsula that lies between the St. Lucie and
Indian Rivers, consists almost exclusively of upscale residences.
The tree-lined peninsula is crossed by route A1A, where
gourmet markets and several fine dining establishments serve
the needs of the approximately 2,000 people who make Sewall's
Point home.
Sailfish
Point
Sailfish
Point, a 532-acre island community that combines luxurious
homes with club-style amenities, sits at the southernmost
tip of Hutchinson Island. In addition to white sandy beaches,
it offers a par 72 Jack Nicklaus golf course, stadium-style
tennis complex, and deepwater marina.
Hutchinson
Island
The
central and southern end of Hutchinson Island, located in
Martin County, offers many different styles of condominiums,
none more than four stories high. Many offer ocean and river
access, as well as boat dockage.
The
Hutchinson Island-Marriott Indian River Plantation Resort,
at the southern end of the island, has ocean, river and
golf course condominiums as well as a resort hotel, marina,
two restaurants and a golf and tennis club.
